World’s largest private educational testing and measurement organization, ETS announced a significant double-digit month-on-month growth in students using TOEFL® and GRE® tests, following its partnership with international student recruitment leader, ApplyBoard. The collaboration between the two has contributed hugely towards achieving the milestone by offering information-based counseling on academic exams that support studying abroad options.
ETS and ApplyBoard’s partnership continues to engage and help Indian students across the country with greater access to test options to succeed in their international education aspirations. As part of this partnership, ApplyBoard promotes the distribution of TOEFL and GRE tests through its network of counselors among prospective students planning to study abroad. This has also helped thousands of students in multiple countries utilizing ETS’s range of tests and test prep options and is already showing a growth in numbers in India as well.
“The growth of TOEFL and GRE tests from ETS’s partnership with ApplyBoard demonstrates the strong joint business opportunities that result from expansion of our collaborative efforts to serve learners and increase global impact,” said ETS Strategic Capital Managing Director Ralph Taylor-Smith. “The ApplyBoard-ETS strategic partnership will continue to advance access to education for all learners.”
“The value of our partnership with ETS is undeniable. We provide accessibility to a wide variety of high-quality exams which brings students one step closer to achieving their dreams to study abroad,” says Meti Basiri, CEO and Co-Founder of ApplyBoard. “During the beginning of the pandemic, a massive shortage of academic exams took place which impacted students all over the world. In the last few years, we’ve seen tremendous growth, specifically when it comes to improving access to testing for students.”
Together, ApplyBoard, including its affiliates and ETS India, the India-based subsidiary of ETS, hold workshops in India to facilitate the training of teachers and counselors. These workshops educate attendees about the TOEFL test, the testing methodology, test structure, scoring and how it stands apart from other English-language proficiency tests. To date, ETS India has conducted a series of such workshops in Amritsar, Jalandhar, Chandigarh, Delhi, Haryana and Ludhiana where more than 200 trainers and counsellors learned about the recent enhancements in the TOEFL iBT® test.
In 2020, ETS announced the creation of ETS Strategic Capital, a division of the global education and data nonprofit, that focuses on growing business and advancing its mission of advancing access to education for all learners through strategic equity investments, growth partnerships, and mergers and acquisitions. ApplyBoard is one of 10 companies in the ETS Strategic Capital’s portfolio.
