Ambareesh Murty, co-founder of Pepperfry, an online furniture and home décor store, died on Monday night in Leh. He was 51.

Murty died of a cardiac arrest while on a biking trip to Leh. He is survived by his wife and two children.

Murty was born in Bangalore, India, in 1972. He graduated from the Indian Institute of Management, Bangalore, in 1996. After graduating, he worked as a management consultant at McKinsey & Company.

In 2011, Murty co-founded Pepperfry with Ashish Shah. Pepperfry quickly became one of the leading online furniture and home décor stores in India. Murty served as the company’s CEO from 2011 to 2016.

Murty was a visionary leader who helped to build Pepperfry into a successful company. He was also a passionate advocate for entrepreneurship. He was a recipient of the TiE Young Entrepreneur Award in 2013.

Murty’s death is a huge loss to the e-commerce industry. He was a pioneer in the online furniture and home décor space. He will be remembered for his contributions to the industry and for his passion for entrepreneurship.

Pepperfry employees took to social media to mourn Murty’s death. They described him as a “great leader” and a “mentor”. They said that his death was a “huge loss” to the company and to the e-commerce industry.

A memorial service for Murty will be held in Bangalore on August 10
